Jeanne joined the World Food System Center in December 2016 and is currently the Research Coordinator. She leads the coordination and development of Center research programs as well as fosters dialogue across science, policy, and practice. In this role, she organizes and moderates exchanges that that engage audiences from the public to global experts and that bridge sectors and disciplines. These activities ensure research insights from ETH Zurich are translated into actionable knowledge for diverse stakeholders.
From 2016 to 2024, Jeanne was the Center's Communications and Outreach Manager. She was responsible during this time for all the Center's communication products including the website, news channel, research fact sheets, reports, newsletters, and social media channels. She also had a key role in organizing and leading numerous outreach activities, including the annual Food Day @ETH and exhibits at Olma. She further provided outreach and communication support for several Special Research Collaborations and support for the Center's Flagship Projects. In 2021, she completed a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Marketing and Corporate Communications at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences.
After earning a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering at M.I.T., Jeanne worked in pharmaceutical production before earning her doctoral degree in Environmental Engineering and Science at Stanford University. Her research focused on remediation of pollutants in water and sediment. Moving to Switzerland, she completed a postdoctoral research position in environmental chemistry at ETH Zurich with Prof. René Schwarzenbach. Jeanne then transitioned into a science communication role at ETH Zurich, with a joint position as the Science Editor and General Manager of the 2016 edition of the graduate level textbook Environmental Organic Chemistry and the Outreach Coordinator for the Environmental Chemistry group of Prof. Kristopher McNeill.
