The ETH Zurich NADEL Center for Development and Cooperation in collaboration with the World Food System Center (WFSC) hosted a public screening of In Our Hands: Seeding Change, a new documentary exploring the sustainability and cultural importance of local food chains. The film follows a group of farmers and food producers in the United Kingdom over one year (2016), to observe their stories of success and the challenges they have faced. The film focused on issues of food sovereignty, modern farming, the importance of local farming, and land use and ownership.

At the event on 21 November 2018, the audience of 90 people first listened to an introduction from Martijn Sonnevelt, WFSC Executive Director, about challenges in the food system and how we as consumers make choices that matter. After the screening, a panel discussion moderated by NADEL’s Linn Borgen Nilsen provided insights from Professor of Agricultural Ecology Christian Schöb and Lukas Peter, co-founder of the local cooperative basimilch Dietikon.

Numerous questions and comments from the audience created a lively discussion, with conversations continuing at the reception.

Special thanks to our panelists and also thanks to all for attending and participating in the discussion!
